Beverley Festival Joins the Brass Band Fever

As BBC TV features the Dinnington Colliery Brass Band in its “A Band for Britain” series,  the Beverley Festival brings one of the best known and best loved brass in the UK, the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band, to perform in the historic and architecturally stunning, .

The band, who are celebrating 126 years of proud , have performed twice before at the festival, and always guarantee a sell out, show stopping performance.   The Minster offers the perfect setting for the band who in addition to having a first class and formidable reputation for highly entertaining of wide public appeal, has many other notable triumphs to its credit in the highly competitive contesting field.

Having won many accolades since the early 1920’s, in 1998 the band held concurrently the English Masters, British National and European Championships, a unique ‘Triple Championship, still not equalled!

Amongst the general public, however, the band is perhaps most popularly known for its famous 1977 hit parade success ‘The Floral Dance’ for which it won both Silver and Gold Discs for massive record sales and tremendous national and international acclaim.

In this new century, the band continues to strive for the highest standard in whatever it does, but keeping one eye on its past and its proud traditions. It is still true to say that no other public subscription band has held such high status for as long as the Brighouse and Rastrick Band!
