The East Riding County Choir held another impressive concert at Beverley Minster. Supported by The East Riding Sinfonia led by Patricia Mitchell, the choir directed by Alan Spedding performed Lux Aeterna and Brahms ‘A German Requiem
The East Riding County Choir’s next concert will be in Beverley Minster on Saturday, 5th May 2012 at 7.30 pm. The Choir is singing two contrasting works – Lux Aeterna by Lauridsen and A German Requiem by Brahms (performed in English).
Beverley Minster was filled with glorious music when the East Riding County Choir performed Handel’s Messiah. The capacity audience was treated to fine singing from the soloists, Ildiko Allen (soprano), Rupert Enticknap (countertenor), Mark Chaundy (tenor) and Jonathan Gunthorpe (baritone). Ildiko Allen, who was a former pupil at Beverley High School where she is celebrated on their ‘Wall of Fame’, said she was delighted to be performing ‘at home’. There…

The East Riding County Choir have been rehearsing since September and tonight at Beverley Minster they will perform Handel’s Messiah. The final rehearsal is used to give the choir the opportunity to become accustomed to acoustics of the Beverley Minster and being accompanied East Riding Sinfonia. East Riding County Choir rehearsals have begun again and are being held at The Hexagon Centre, Coltman Avenue, Beverley. The first rehearsal of the new term on 19th September was very well attended and the second one is scheduled for the 3rd October. The East Riding County Choir needs singers in all four voices. The music we sing is beautiful and challenging. In the recent past we have sung Verdi’s Requiem and Bach’s B Minor Mass.
