East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Active Coast team has put together a varied programme of events and activities at several coastal locations for the summer holidays.
Active Coast is the council’s popular programme for residents and visitors to explore and enjoy life in the East Riding.
There will be annual restrictions excluding dogs from certain parts of beaches along the East Coast from Sunday, 1 May.
In an effort to help families and visitors enjoy the seaside without being bothered by nuisance dogs or fouling, the exclusion will be in effect until 30 September.
Active Coast is back for the May half term, with free activities and self-led exploration.
Now is the time to reconnect with the outdoors and rediscover the coast. The mini programme of activities is aimed at people of all ages, with fun for families, adults and the young at heart.
Dog owners are being reminded that restrictions excluding their pets from certain parts of beaches along the East Coast will be enforced from Saturday, 4 July this year, having been temporarily suspended in May.
The introduction of the annual exclusion, enforced by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, was delayed this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ArtWaves Festival launched the Environmental Project in 2019 as a strand of the overall festival to highlight current issues and raise awareness of negative practices impacting the environment.
This weekend (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 September) will see the return of the Bridlington Weekend of Motoring 2018, organised by Tour Britannia on behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

This weekend will see an international volleyball festival in Bridlington, with fun and excitement for all the family.
Bridlington will be the UK’s sole host for the 2018 CEV (Confederation of European Volleyball) Beach Volleyball Festival, which will run alongside the UK Pro Beach Volleyball Tour (UKBT) Event on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August at Bridlington South Cliff Beach (below Park & Ride).

The programme is designed for residents and visitors to get active, be healthy and enjoy life in the area, with events at Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea.
East Riding Council’s Sport, Play and Arts service will be holding its annual Beach Sports Festival on Sunday 23 July, at Bridlington South Cliff beach (near the Park and Ride) from 11am until 3 pm.
The free festival is in its ninth year, and is part of the council’s Active Coast programme, which aims to enable residents and visitors to Get Active, Be Healthy and Enjoy Life on the stunning East Yorkshire coast.
A highly-regarded beach volleyball competition is returning to Bridlington over the weekend of 8-9 July.
The 35th Bridlington Open Volleyball Championship is aimed at all levels of player and is contested over two days, attracting competitors from all over the north of England.
Bridlington South Beach has been granted FIVB (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) status and recognised as a national hub for GoSpike Beach Volleyball by Volleyball England.
In the past 12 months, over 3500 people have been engaged in organised and informal Beach Volleyball, and the success of events such as the Bridlington Beach Open and Volleyball England Beach Tour have shown Bridlington to be a showcase beach to host major events.

At the Annual Meeting of Council, Councillor Kay West was elected to be the new Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and will serve until May 2012. Councillor West, who lives in Pocklington, is councillor for Pocklington Provincial ward. She was first elected in 2007. Last year, Councillor West served as vice-chairman and has been mayor of Pocklington on three occasions, with the last time being back in 2003….
