Beverley’s 2021 season has now concluded and they held an end of the season awards evening. There were four awards up for grabs.

Lewis Miller took the committee player of the year. Billy Riby took the coaches player of the year. Dan Smart took the players player of the year and the young player of the year went to Dan Spence.

The truncated campaign, which saw the 49 NCL clubs placed in 7 regionalised groups of 7, saw Beverley placed in a tough group of mainly higher-ranked opposition.

This unusual format did provide clubs with many local derbies alongside some inevitable postponements due to Covid. Whilst the concept enabled the game to get going again, there is a general feeling across the game that everyone will be glad when the normal meaningful competition returns with promotion and relegation at stake in 2022.

Beverley did manage to complete 11 league fixtures winning 3 of them. One of those victories did include a shock 20-6 defeat of long-established Conference big-hitters .

Head Coach saw the campaign as a learning experience. He said that divisions are there for a reason and this season proved Beverley are a division 2 side. He however is determined to launch an assault on promotion out of division 2 in 2022.

Beverley will now go into a short hibernation before pre-season training commences towards the end of the year.

The NCL fixtures for 2022 are expected to be released around Christmas time.
