Richard Smyth is a writer, researcher and editor based in .

He is a regular contributor to ‘Bird Watching’ , and was a finalist in ’s Mastermind show, answering questions on British birds.

Richard describes his book ‘A Wild Sweet Note’ as a book about birdsong, and what it means – not just to the birds, but to readers, too. The songs of birds have worked their way deeply into culture: into literature, science, music, the way think about and engage with the world around them.
