’s Chief Finance Officer, Emma Sayner, has been shortlisted for 2017 Finance Director of the Year by the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) – the professional body for the healthcare finance profession

HFMA’s annual awards programme recognises the work of finance teams and individuals from across the UK. The awards cover the fundamental aspects of the finance team role – production of the accounts, costing, training, development and innovation, and recognise the importance of engaging clinicians in financial management.

Under Emma Sayner’s financial leadership Hull CCG has achieved the highest (1A) NHS England North category for financial assurance. Emma also leads the HFMA National Accounts Team of the Year following four years of unqualified annual accounts.

Emma also plays a huge role in the Humber Coast and Vale STP, leading and embedding the financial group as a critical function in the STP programme.

Hull CCG is rated as ‘outstanding’ and is also a finalist in the HSJ awards for CCG of the year. CCG Chief Officer Emma Latimer said: “I am so delighted that Emma has been shortlisted for the NHS finance award. She always has the courage to constructively challenge colleagues and she shows a human side and empathy for the wider challenges faced by communities in Hull. I think she’s the best in the business and we are very lucky to her on board.”

The HFMA award ceremony will take place on 7 December in London.
