Jerry’s Athletic have thrown down a challenge to players in the town form a side and take them on as they continue to dominate the local 5-a-Side league.
Formed four years ago, Jerry’s Athletic have won 11 trophies in all and look odds on to adding to that tally this year having won all 15 of their games.
Manager Terry Richardson says that he wants someone in the town to form a side and have a go at knocking them off their perch.
Richardson says he and his team take part in the Beverley Leisure Centre 5-A-Side Sunday League as it helps keep them fit and is good way to socialise.
Speaking about the team, Richardson told HU17.net;
“At the moment there is only 10 teams in the league . We want to challenge more teams to join and boost the league.”
“There is a lot of talented footballers in Beverley – so it is up to them to form a team and knock us off our perch.”
While this may sound a simple task, Jerry’s Athletic record shows that when it comes to this format of the game they are without question a serious force.
“The current Jerry’s team was formed in 2013. Although the team was actually formed in 2005, we took their name.”
“Since 2013 we have won 8 League Titles, 3 Cup Winners titles and twice have been runners up. Our current position in the league is top, with a record of played 15, won 15, goals scored 74, goals conceded 2.”
“Our current squad is made up of Rhys Vazquez, Ollie Vazquez, Ben Vazquez, Mike Hageman, Harry Headley, Tom Fraiser and myself.”
Over the years there have been some attempts by sides in Beverley to ‘knock them off their perch’ though most have failed as numbers dwindle in the competition.
