Tributes have poured in after the tragic and sudden death of popular businessman .

Ashley, 47, was a very well-liked and respected member of the community, and the sad news of his death has led to many of the peoples whose lives he enriched taking to social media to express their condolences.

Last night, I became a broken man. Losing the best friend anyone could ask for. No words can describe my love for this guy. The perfect father figure, my 2nd dad who thought the world of my daughter. Lining up with this guy most Saturdays for 17years was priceless. The most passionate cricket fan on earth. My buddy. The Drog

While MP responded to his Ashley’s daughter’s post saying;

‘I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad, Alice. One of those rare people who lights up a room and makes everyone around him feel better. Love to you all.’

Other members of the local community have expressed their shock and sorrow at the loss of their friend with many describing him as larger than life, cheerful and a fun guy to be around.

For me personally, my fondest memory of Ashley came after a run-in with a newspaper. He assured me there was nothing to worry about. He sat with me in the supping pints in an act of solidarity telling me there was no such thing as bad publicity.

Over the years, be it at the races or the opening of a new bar Ashley was a ‘face’ – someone who you could be sure would be at these events complete with his big warm smile clutching a drink.

More recently he had started to raise money for his beloved Cricket Club, so they could develop the sport and give more young people a chance to play something that he himself excelled at.

My thoughts, like many other peoples are with his family at what must be a very difficult time for them. However, I hope that they can seek some comfort from knowing what an incredible impact Ashley had on so many lives, including my own.
