Parkway Cinema in Beverley: First Impressions

Parkway Cinema in Beverley: First Impressions

in may have changed my perception of what going to the pictures is thanks to some simple things.

As a company Parkway Cinema’s started life as a family-run but has since evolved into a small business. Beverley is the fourth venue in its portfolio.

Having just opened I took the opportunity to have look around the new cinema located at Flemingate and also go and the film, The Force Awakens.

Purchasing a ticket was simple enough. I bought mine at the main concession, and it cost me £8.60 for a regular 2D film, which I felt was a very fair price.

I never asked about the 3D pricing as in my life, I watched two films in 3D. The first was years ago, Jaws 3D and more recently Planet of the Apes – neither were great.

Rather than having popcorn and coke I thought I would have a drink at the bar. While they sell local real ales, I had a draft lager costing just £ 3.40, which again was very reasonable.

While ordering I was offered the choice of a plastic cup, so I could take my beer into the cinema and watch the film!

Was I hearing them right? Yes, I was, for the first time, and granted I have not been to many cinemas over the years; I could have a beer while watching a film.

In the past when I was a lot younger I have been known to put a can of beer into the paper coke cups, which was a pain, but now you can just take it in, brilliant.

Star Wars was been shown on screen 6 which I am led to believe is the main screen and stage at the Parkway Cinema in Beverley.

The auditorium was a decent size with plenty of room to slouch in your chair, which is quite tall was good news as I am more used to my knees being pressed against the back of the chair in front.

Taking my seat a chap next to me with his children looked at my pint while holding a coke and chuckled, saying he has missed a trick.

Watching the film was comfortable, the lights were all dimmed, and the sound was of the quality as you would expect in a cinema.

My experience was a very good one. They have got a lot of things right. Be it the people who work there through to the feel of the place. The pricing is fair, and its location makes going to watch a film really easy.

Parkway Cinema in Beverley is a fantastic place to watch a film. I think as a community, out of all the things to come out of Flemingate, this cinema and theatre is the jewel in the crown.
