Commonwealth Games Legacy Festival 2015

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Sports, Play and Arts Service recently organised a Commonwealth Games legacy festival for young disabled people who live in the area.

The event was held at , Beverley, with around 30 young disabled people and their siblings attending.

Adam Swann, community sport coach, said :

“The day was fantastic, and parents and carers attended the event as well, which made for a great atmosphere. I have received some lovely feedback from parents, carers and participants regarding the event and would like to thank everyone for making this year’s Commonwealth Games legacy event such a great success. It was a fantastic way to finish the summer of 2015.”

At the event the young disabled participants and siblings took part in various different sports, such as archery, cricket, football and . The event was supported by Beverley Tesco’s store and their community liaison officer David Ryley; the store supplied refreshments and snacks for all the participants on the day.

Adam Swann added:

“Every participant who attended the event got fully involved and tried their hardest at all the different sports. At the end of the event, everyone received a certificate and medal, with special trophies and awards being presented for young disabled participants whose achievements stood out on the day.”
