East Riding College launches Its Energy Technology Centre

Business people from across the East Riding and Humber region attended the launch of ’s Energy Technology Centre.

The event was held at the Tickton Grange Hotel, near Beverley, and was attended by more than 100 industry leaders, local authority representatives and small business owners.

The aim was to enable SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in the region to find out how they can benefit from opportunities associated with the growth in the energy sector and to network with others who have the same objectives.

ETC manager said:

“I’m delighted by the response of businesses from across the region to the launch of the Energy Technology Centre.”

“The event showed just how much anticipation there is in the East Riding and Humber region surrounding the predicted investment in energy and renewables, and the desire to work together to secure the greatest possible boost to the regional economy.”

Derek Branton, Principal of East Riding College, said:

“It was gratifying to see all the planning and development for the ETC project coming to fruition and for it to be so well received by business in the region.”

“I would strongly encourage SMEs to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the ETC. There is great potential for real, tangible benefits from engaging with our consultants and energy experts.”

Beverley and Holderness said:

“The launch of the ETC is a real statement of intent. I hope it will serve as a clarion call to local companies to come to the centre and take advantage of the services and facilities on offer and that it will send a message to the wider economy that the Humber area is determined to maximise the potential of the renewables and energy industry overall and the Siemens and ABP investments in particular.”

The ETC provides facilities for small to medium enterprises (SMEs), corporate support services and links to training across a range of business, energy and environmental services.

These include consultancy services in areas such as tendering, sustainability and equality and diversity, all of which are crucial to winning business from major corporations.

The ETC will also offer advice and assistance on energy efficiency as well as environmental audits at business premises and a range of seminars, workshops and other events.
