Whitestar’s Youngsters Too Good For Athletico

Despite a difficult start to the season went into this weekends cup fixture against u20’s with quiet optimism.

With progression being shown in both league games this season , Athletico wanted to get their first victory on the board.

As both teams tried to settle into the game it was evident that the White star side were a very capable team, they began probing away at Athletico looking for an opening.

Their patience proved a good move as they took the lead with a good strike from the edge of the area. With Athletico struggling to keep possession , chances at the other end were kept to a minimum. As Athletico gifted possession away again White star struck again with a fine looping volley over the keeper.

The second half began better for the away side as Nightingale and Svenson applied good pressure and aggression from up front to the White Star opponents, the rest of the side soon followed suit.

The home side looked slightly flustered, however despite a good spell from Athletico the home side soon took control of the game , a hideous decision from the referee was next to follow he awarded a penalty for handball against Starkey. The penalty was missed , perhaps showing some justice.

However Beverley Whitestar never looked like conceding despite some good Athletico link up play down the right wing towards the end. Special mention should be made to the Athletico goal keeper who made a string of outstanding saves to keep the score at only 2-0.

Final Score Beverley Whitestar U20’s 2- 0 Athletico Promo
