Captain Richard Simpson scored 86 for Beverley Town Cricket Club’s 4th XV but his side only managed a draw with Cottingham CC.
Batting first at the Norwood Recreation Ground, Beverley put 225 runs on the board with their inspirational skipper leading the way with a fine performance in the middle. Ray Teal made a return to action and wasted little time in slogging his self to 26 runs before he was cleaned bowled and sent back to the pavilion.
Although Cottingham scored just 195/7 from their 44 overs, Beverley’s bowlers were unable to take the wickets needed to win the game.
The pick of the bowlers for Beverley was Dave Norton who finished with figures of 2/30 from his eleven overs.
