Shirley Harrison has combined her passion for pizza with her penchant for painting.
Local artist Shirley is a regular customer at Beverley’s Pizza Express restaurant, in North Bar Within, and so she was delighted when the restaurant wanted to hang her paintings in the restaurant for all patrons to enjoy.
Shirley told HU17.net how it came about:
She said: “I enjoy creating beautiful paintings, mainly watercolour, sometimes landscape, and sometimes very cute paintings for all ages.
“I have always enjoyed art and have painted right through school. I have always found painting very relaxing and my main annual painting would be a Christmas scene and that would be made into a Christmas card.
“When I presented the staff at Pizza Express a Christmas card they were delighted. Their feedback was so positive, after a small and beautiful conversation it was agreed and the very next day four limited edition paintings arrived at Pizza Express in Beverley to go on display for everyone to enjoy
“It’s working really well and customers and staff are very excited about the whole thing.”
Shirley has lived in and around Beverley for her entire life and is inspired by the locality.
And when it comes to eating out in the town, there’s no doubt where here number one restaurant is.
She continued: “This is a step in a new direction for me with my paintings. It feels fantastic and it has brought about a feel good factor all round.
“All the staff are full of enthusiasm regarding my paintings. I am really moved by their help and I wish to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported me with this, it means such a lot.”
