Beverley town centre came to stand still today at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, veterans, and children from Beverley’s schools, the Mayor of Beverley and other town officials stood in silence for 2 minutes.
In the Memorial Gardens, Hengate, Beverley Mr Longcaster of Molescroft Primary School held a special assembly for the children from his school and from Keldmash Primary School Primary School, Beverley. The youngsters then sung a hymn before the Memorial Gardens observed a period of silence.
The Mayor of Beverley David Elvidge and Mayoress Janet Morris, Beverley Town Clerk Helen Watson were joined at Market Cross by members of the British Royal Legion and veterans.
