Beverley Town FC came from behind to beat Chalk Lane in the East Riding Senior Cup at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Trailing 1 – 0 at half time, a Town side that featured a number of young players put in a better shift in the second half to turn the game around.

The goals both came from substitute Luke Thompson, the first was a delightful finish after latching onto a long ball from Town’s keeper Adam Nicholson and his second, which proved to be the winner came from a one on one situation that he finished placing the ball to the left of the keeper.

Dave Ricardo told HU17.net after the game:

“The lads put a professional second half performance to beat a solid Chalk Lane side.”

“Apart from a twenty-minute spell in the first half after they scored I thought we bossed the game and got our due rewards from two great Luke Thompson finishes.”

“Again the attitude shown from all the squad was first class and makes the coaching staff and my job so much easier.”

“It’s a good sign for next week’s home fixture against Westella and Willerby that we finished the game so strongly against historically one of the fittest sides in the league.”

“May I also to this opportunity to thank Evans Halshaw for sponsoring today’s game.”
