Tesco Community Grants have funded thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping schools, junior sports teams, foodbanks, charities and community groups. Since 2016 over a hundred local projects voted on in Tesco’s Beverley store have received over £200,000 in grants.
In our local area, the following groups will each benefit from the latest round of grants:
- St Mary’s Primary School received £1500 to help improve their outdoor play area
- Cherry Burton FC received £1,000 to help local youth football
- Leven Playing Fields Association received £500 to help keep Leven Sports Hall running
Laura Wallace, Head Teacher of St Mary’s Primary School, said:
”We would like to say a huge thank you to Tesco and all of the customers within our community who voted for St Mary’s. The £1500 we have been awarded from the Stronger Starts Grant will allow us to make further improvements to our Foundation Stage outdoor area, adding new resources and equipment for the children.”
John Bird, Cherry Burton FC Chairman, said:
”Thank you for the opportunity to be chosen for the Tesco funding. We will use the money to buy new equipment and starting new primary school teams.”
Steve Hunt, Secretary of Leven Playing Field Association, said:
”Tesco Stronger Starts Community grants have been a supporter of our charity for numerous projects over the years and we are very grateful for the funding we have received. This money will be vital in the continued running of Leven Sports Hall, a real community asset to the village of Leven and surrounding area. Thank you to all the customers at Tesco Beverley for voting and supporting our project.”
