East Yorkshire Once Again Hosts The National Skydiving Championships

Skydive GB Parachute Club near Bridlington will host this month’s National Skydiving Championships in Accuracy for 2022 in East Yorkshire. The event marks the return of a national competition in skydiving to the county.

As a result of last year’s successful return of the National Championships to the area, sporting legends from across the country and even around the world are expected to descend on the club for another year of competition.

In his remarks ahead of the National Skydiving Championships, Bill Rule, Chairman of Skydive GB Parachute Club, said:  

“Last year we saw the return of competitive skydiving to the club. Thanks to the success of the 2021 event, we were welcomed by British Skydiving, our sport’s governing body, to play host for the second consecutive year.

“If you’re interested in the vibrant sport we call skydiving, we welcome you to visit the club. You are welcome to come and see the competition in action. Who knows, one year it could be you taking part.”

National Skydiving Championships Will Test Skills To The Max

During the competition, experienced parachutists aim to land on a pad which measures 16cm in diameter. The centre point of my tuffet is 2 cm in diameter while it is filled with air.

Winners are determined by their lowest cumulative scores and are crowned National Champions.

Furthermore, parachutists with conventional parachute styles can enter a ‘Sport’ category in which they aim for a larger 40cm target as well as the ‘Classic’ category with specially designed accuracy parachutes.

As a result of this addition, the competition is much more accessible and gives some insight into the discipline to those who are less experienced skydivers.

Grindale is the only parachute centre in Yorkshire, operated by Skydive GB Parachute Club. There is also a Tandem Skydive training zone at the dropzone, where students can experience tandem skydiving.
