Consultation Has Begun In East Yorkshire

East Yorkshire’s local authority is asking its residents and workers to help combat climate change.

Residents are being invited to drop-in sessions to discuss the Climate Change Strategy prepared by the council’s sustainable development team.

One such event will be taking place in Beverley this weekend on 3 September in Saturday Market from 10AM.

In the strategy, the East Riding Local Authority will set out its vision and also ambitions regarding global warming.

As part of its climate change strategy, the council also hopes that residents will consider their own impact on the environment.

North Bridlington Library will also host an information event on 16 September 2022.

The sustainable development team and wider council services will be available to answer questions about the draft Climate Change Strategy. On the day of the session, a full draft of the strategy will also be available for viewing.

Everyone is welcome to attend this open invitation-only event to learn more about the strategy and ask questions about climate change.

In order to create a strategy that truly reflects the views of residents across the authority area, they are creating a survey to gather public feedback on the draft material.

Authorities Want Consensus With Community To Tackle Climate Change

It is recommended that residents read through this summary document before taking part in the survey, which provides key draft information about the Climate Change Strategy.

The local authority has set a net zero target of 2050 for their own operations and services.

In order to create ownership and a shared vision, a regional target should be developed collaboratively with residents, businesses, and organizations.

The deadline for receipt of all responses is Sunday, 25 September 2022.

The drop-in sessions will take place:

Beverley Market – 3 September from10am

Pocklington Market – 6 September 2022 from10am

Hornsea Hub – 7 September 2022 from10am
