In support of York cancer charities, a local Rotary Club has organised a Classic Car Show.

It will take place at Langlands Garden Centre, Shiptonthorpe on the 28th and 29th of August as part of the eighth annual Classic Car Show organized by Weighton Wolds Rotary Club.

 It is expected that between 80 and 120 classic cars will be on display daily over the two-day event, including rare pre-war MGs, a 1908 Renault, plus Austins and Rileys. The line-up was recently expanded by a 1999 Lotus Esprit, a 2000 Ferrari and a 2002 Maserati.

John Ducker, a member of Weighton Wolds Rotary Club and a classic car enthusiast, is looking forward to the event. He said;

“We’re very pleased with the calibre of classic cars that we attract to our shows. We are also looking forward to this year’s event and to welcoming classic cars from East, West and South Yorkshire.

“Over the years, our classic car shows have raised over £15,000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and cancer and Alzheimer’s charities, so we’re hopeful that this event will raise a significant amount of money to help York Against Cancer to fund their vital work.

“We’ve always got room to display more cars, so if you’re a classic car owner and would like to join us on either or both days, please email me at jcdandemd@btinternet.com.”

This year’s Classic Car Show will take place on 28th and 29th August at Langlands, Shiptonthorpe. Entry is by donation to York Against Cancer, with all proceeds going to the organisation.

Since Weighton Wolds Rotary Club was chartered, its 48 members have raised £97,200 for charity.

Furthermore, in addition to raising funds for individuals, the club has a charity account from which it makes local bequests. Earlier this year, the team organised a specific event for Ukraine which raised £22000.
