MP, Graham Stuart, nominated the Beverley Cherry Tree Youth Club for the Kids Count Inspiration Awards in October and the judging panel has awarded them Highly Commended for the Community Group Award category.

The Cherry Tree Youth Club have been invited to attend the Award Ceremony later this month.

The aim of the Kids Count Inspiration Awards is to recognise those individuals and organisations that have inspired young people in their communities.

These are special awards that give MPs the opportunity to highlight outstanding work in their constituency and to demonstrate their commitment and support.

The has been running its Youth Club for four years and offers a safe space for young people to drop in, meet others, receive support and take part in activities in which they would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

Throughout the pandemic, the Youth Club has put on a variety of events for young people and their families, including ‘garden gate chat’ and an escape room.

They also regularly distribute wellbeing bags and free food, which is greatly appreciated by all the young people who attend the Club.

Graham said;

“I am absolutely delighted that the Cherry Tree Youth Club’s wonderful work has been recognised.

It is a fantastic achievement to be highly commended for these awards and they should be very proud of the difference they make to young people in this deprived local community in Beverley.

“I look forward to welcoming the team and some of their members to Parliament at the end of April for the Award Ceremony”.

Jo Ramsay, Manager at Cherry Tree Community Centre, said;

“The Cherry Tree Youth Club is absolutely delighted to be honoured with a Highly Commended award, and the young people who will be visiting Westminster are very excited.

“It is a testament to the dedication of the Youth Workers who have pounded the streets working with the hard to reach adolescents and the amazing team at the who support and champion them. House of Commons here we come.”
