East Yorkshire Local Food Network (EYLFN) celebrated the launch of a special 20th-anniversary edition of the ‘Enjoy Local Food and Drink Guide’ during their recent Spring Event at The Manor Rooms on The Drewton Estate, South Cave.
The Guide describes where to buy and enjoy the astonishingly wide range of delicious locally produced food and drink available across East Yorkshire. From restaurants and pubs full of character to cosy tearooms, residents and visitors to the East Riding are spoilt for choice when it comes to relaxing with friends and family.
The Guide also contains a wealth of information on a myriad of activities and events taking place across East Yorkshire throughout the year – including festivals, food and drink experiences, wildlife watching, heritage and culture, walking and cycling.
Last week’s Spring Event, facilitated by the rural team at the Council and attended by over 100 delegates, was opened by Katie Taylor MBE, Chair of East Yorkshire Local Food & Rural Tourism Network, alongside Councillor Jonathan Owen, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The morning featured presentations from local food and hospitality businesses who shared the innovative ways they have adapted their businesses to meet and exceed their customers’ expectations in a fast-changing world.
The event also featured updates on the Yorkshire Wolds Way long distance path which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year and profiled the successful marketing of the area as an all-year-round tourist destination by Visit East Yorkshire. Delegates also had the opportunity to network and browse a number of stands.
Katie Taylor MBE said:
“After a difficult couple of years, Network members thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet up again in person to share experiences and ideas. I am delighted that members of the Network continue to grow, as does the customer appetite for East Yorkshire local food and drink and interest in exploring all there is to enjoy in the area.”
Councillor Jane Evison, portfolio holder for economic development and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
“Congratulations to the East Yorkshire Local Food Network on the publication of their 20th Anniversary edition of the ever-popular Local Food and Drink Guide.
“We are fortunate in our area to have a band of highly skilled food producers, retailers and hospitality professionals, working together on a daily basis, with the shared aim of providing customers with an unrivalled range of quality local food and drink.
“I would particularly like to thank past and present voluntary members of the Network Steering Group who share their time and expertise and I am proud of the contribution made by East Riding of Yorkshire Council in helping to sustain and grow the network over the last 20 years. Here’s to the next 20!”
The guides will be available from ERYC Tourist Information Centres, Customer Service Centres, leisure centres and libraries. They will also be available from participating businesses and food festivals and events attended by members.
