COVID-19 – Supermarkets Put Purchasing Restrictions in Place

Supermarkets and other shops are implementing restrictions as a result of panic buying triggered by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Locally here in Beverley the local Asada store saw their stocks of toilet roll wiped out. While other products like hand sanitizer remain almost impossible to find.

Shoppers are now being urged to think of others. Retailers are saying shortages of stock in-store will be created by panic buying and not due to COVID-19.

Government officials insist that should carry on and things in the UK are business as usual. However many people are choosing to stock up on essentials including food.

Later today the PM, Boris Johnson will chair a Cobra meeting as they look to plan their next move.

Talks will also be held to decide if major public events and also sporting occasions should be suspended. Beverley is set to host the start of the Tour de Yorkshire on 30 April.

Those behind the event currently have no plans to call it off. They say they are following the advice coming from the government while monitoring the situation closely.

Increase In COVID-19 Cases Could Put Major Events At Risk

As the number of cases continues to rise in the UK concerns among the population are starting to grow. The Tour de Yorkshire is a major event with thousands of people expected to head to Beverley.

  1. Those that are panic buying can best be described as SCUMBAGS.There can be no reasonable explanation other than the me me culture that is now the norm.Retailers should have seen this coming and made restrictions far earlier.
