College To Host Hull’s Biggest Ever Cross Sector Leadership Conference

Hull is to host an international conference to promote effective public and private cross sector leadership in the city.

With a high calibre of international speakers and an audience of over 120 leaders and aspiring leaders due to attend on Tuesday 29 November, the ambitious conference at St Mary’s College, will offer practical and inspirational advice to business and school leaders across the city.

The day will provide insight into how to create sustainable skills for young people that capitalise on Hull’s improving economic position and the part education will play in the future regeneration of the city beyond 2017 when Hull is UK City of Culture.

’s Chief Executive, Matt Jukes, along with the Chief Executive of construction company Sewell Group, Paul Sewell, leading professors and head teachers from the USA, Canada and and other education practitioners will all speak at the conference, hoping to raise aspirations in the city.

Matt Jukes, Chief Executive, Hull City Council said:

“This is an ambitious conference and the first of its kind on this scale. It is a great chance to bring together leading public and private leaders and organisations generating opportunities and developing relationships that have a shared vision to benefit the people of Hull.”

Ged Fitzpatrick, St Mary’ College Executive Head teacher and conference joint organiser and host, said:

“We believe that Hull has something to celebrate in relation to education standards and leaders across all sectors. We need to work together to develop talent and a common vision in order for Hull to succeed in the long-term.”

“We have had strong support from business, council, Hull Chamber of Commerce and the CBI and I am looking forward to the conference bringing leaders and practitioners together to share our achievable vision and raising the aspirations for the city.”

The conference will be hosted by Estelle MacDonald OBE, CEO of HCAT Multi Academy Trust and Ged Fitzpatrick Executive Head teacher of St Mary’s College and CEO of St Cuthbert’s Academy Trust.
