Late Goal Leaves Towns Veterans Disappointed

Beverley Town Veterans were left feeling hard done by after a late goal denied them all three points as they drew 1-1 with .

Playing strong winds and rain Town took the lead through a unlikely source as centre back headed home scoring his first goal in over three years.

A man of the match performance by Town’s keeper Andy Lane seemed to have been enough to seal all three points though Lane missed out on a clean sheet when he was beaten in the 88th minute.

Speaking after Town’s manager Steven Harvey told HU17.net;

“I am very disappointed we were pegged back so late on in the game. Saying that, we played really well against Knottingley who are unbeaten this season coming into this game with 100pc record.”

“Our keeper was man of the match today, Lane did really well to kept us in it, when called upon he made vital saves throughout the game and was very good at organising the defence.”

Commenting on Jagger finding the net Harvey said;

“Jagger is a quality player, he reads the game so well. He is very comfortable on the ball we miss him when he doesn’t play. I don’t usually see him that far up the pitch but he took his header well.”

“Over all I felt we were the better team. We created more chances dominated the play for more of the game.”

“Their goal was very lucky a weak shot that just dribbled over the line.”

Harvey was also quick to praise his new signings, he said;

“We recently signed the two Chilcott brothers and they have really strengthened our team, Rob and Dean are both really good footballers.”

Town remain third in the Hull & District Veterans League after their draw with Knottingley Albion who are in second.

Next up for the veterans is a short trip to Hull to play Bransholme, a side they beat easily 6-1 back in November.

Final Score: Beverley Town Veterans 1 Knottingley Albion 1
