Fine Innings From McDowell Guides Beverley To Victory

Beverley Cricket Club Ladies end their season with a win as they beat Tottington St Johns CC by eight wickets at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Batting first a young Tottington side set Beverley a target of 125 runs, Charlotte Boulton (28) topped scored for the side from Lancashire while Beverley’s Alice Bailey was the stand out bowler finishing with figures of 4/14.

In reply Beverley knocked off the required runs for the loss of just two wickets. Skipper Sarah McDowell lead the way for Beverley with an unbeaten 57 while Helen Craig (29) and Leah Dobson (21)* also contributed with the bat.

Speaking after the match said;

“We were very pleased with the result and it was a great way to finish the season.”

“Sarah provided a great knock maximising on running between the wickets to achieve her 57 not out.”

“Her innings was well supported by Helen Craig. Following the dismissal of Beth Smith, Dobson came in playing well with Sarah to seal the win.”

“All in all this was a good team effort all round. The youth of the team delivered with great bowling spells from Bailey and Dobson along with a great catch from Ellie.”
