Olly Adamson Goes Pink in Aid of Cancer Research UK

Olly Adamson a 12-year-old from Beverley has smashed a target he set himself to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Olly who hatched a plan to die his hair pink and shave the cancer ribbon into the back of his head set out to raise £150 but now looks likely to reach an incredible £700.

At Usher’s Barbers this week Olly had his hair dyed pink and ribbon cut into his hair by Kerry Whiting, speaking about his fundraiser Olly said;

“I felt very nervous at the start about how it what it would be like but I was proud of myself for having the guts to do it.”

“When I got there I was shocked at the amount of support I got from friends and family who were there.”

His fund raiser was in memory of his grandmother Valerie Adamson who sadly passed away from cancer 8 years ago, Olly added;

“It was one of the most emotional days of my life but also one of the happiest days having this done.”

“Kerry done an amazing job I am very grateful for her support. The ribbon she shaved into my head is fantastic, love it.”

“I have had so much respect and support from people on social media and now have being given a new nickname, Pinky.”

His mother Donna praised her son for his efforts saying;

“I am extremely proud of Olly. He is a really caring and kind lad. For him to do this off his own back and raise the amount of money makes me so proud to be his mum.”

Nicki Embleton from Cancer Research UK was equally impressed with the young man’s efforts, she said;

“I am very impressed with Olly’s creativity and determination he has shown to raise a huge amount of money in memory of his grandmother.”

Donna added;

“We would like to thank Kerry, Clinton Cards in Beverley who inflated the balloons for free and also Adel Professional Hair and Beauty in Hull for donating the die.”
