Tupai Confident Beavers Can Get A Positive result Against Westoe

Beverley RUFC welcome Westoe this week to Beaver Park for their National North Three fixture. Westoe, like Beverley finding the going tough in the league with some disappointing score lines.

Beverley coming off an away loss to league leader’s Sale by 58 points to 12 and Westoe losing to Wirral 63 points to 19. Westoe are just above Beverley in the table in 13th place with 17 league points and Beverley on 11 points in 14th place. This week could decide who finishes bottom of the pile with five games remaining. Director of Rugby, Junior Tupai commented:

“This week for us could be a confidence booster, especially for the young lads we have tried to develop this year. Westoe have struggled recently and if we can shore up our defence, then I think we can claim a much needed win. Looking at our effort against Sale, we defended naively against a very good team, and they punished us but at 41 to nil down, we dug our heels in and defended well but scored a couple of good tries.”

Westoe have been able to record two more wins than Beverley, all of which have been at home and have struggled away from home.

Tupai continued:

“Home advantage will be important for us. It’s a long trip for them as we experienced in mid October. Their results have shown they may have had major injuries and with their Director of Rugby Andy Howells leaving his post, we need to keep a positive frame of mind about getting a good result for our supporters.”

Beverley have some injury concerns but after a good showing against Sale, they can look to select from a similar team to play this week.
