Gibson and Stark On Target As Ten Men Town Beat Scullies

Beverley Town Reserves made it back to back wins for the first time this season as they beat Sculcoates Amateurs 2-0.

Town’s task was made all the harder after the referee sent off Matthew Trowill inside 2 minutes for foul and abusive language towards another player.

Playing with a man down the team pulled together with big performances from , Shaun Gibson and Phillip Gardner.

With just minutes left in the game Gibson got the first goal as he out jumped the Sculcoates keeper to head home a perfect cross from Cattle.

Cattle was also involved in the second goal as the prolific winger crossed to find , who toe poked home to seal all three points.

Speaking after the game manager Ed Grady said;

“I was buzzing after the game. The whole team again played well and there were lots of positives from game.”

“We basically played the entire match with 10 men. I think the red card was very harsh as Trowill did swear but at another player. Others swore during the match, but they never saw red.”

“Gardner was pure class today. He did all the dirty work and despite us losing a player early on because of his efforts, we could stick with two players up top, Gardner also managed to get his first shot of the season on target too, even if it was a bit of a toe punt. ”

Beverley Town Reserves are now in sixth place in the East Riding County League. Grady feels he has the right blend of players in his squad and still believes his team have chance of winning the league, he said;

“The win today means we have ended 2014 with back to back wins. I think it is just what we needed and sets up well for new year. I think we can kick on and challenge for the title.”

Grady and his boys can now relax, they will return to league action in the new year when they face Reserves.
