Royal Marines Celebrate 350th Birthday

This year on the 28th October, The Royal Marine Corps will celebrate its 350th birthday.

To mark this prestigious event, from the Defence School of Transport will celebrate by completing a 9 mile booted run in and around Beverley on Thursday 23rd October.

A 60 strong team comprising of Royal Marines, both permanent staff and students who are currently undergoing driver training courses at the school, will replicate a speed march that all Marines undertake during their basic training in order to gain their coveted Green Beret. The aim of the march is to raise awareness and funds for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF).

Any members of the public wishing to support them will find Royal Marines with collection buckets in Beverley from 9:45 am, the marching contingent of Royal Marines will march from the to at approximately 10:30 am.

The overall route of the 9 mile speed march starts at the Defence School of Transport along the A164 onto Grange Way and then towards Beverley via Norwood to the Market Cross through to Wednesday Market where the Marines will stop for a water break before continuing the remainder of their march.
