Councillor Supports Westwood Cycle Path Plan

Councillor Supports Westwood Cycle Path Plan

Cllr Bryan Pearson, who represents St Mary’s Ward, has come out in favour of the proposed cycle path across Beverley Westwood alongside the B1230.

recently started a six week consultation on the scheme, which would see the footway widened by 20inches to allow both cyclists and pedestrians to safely travel between Beverley and the village of Walkington.

Cllr Pearson said:

“This is something that East Riding Council have been trying to do for some time to make the journey across the Westwood much safer for cyclists, particularly school children. There have been objections by those who do not want to see any land lost, but it has been made clear that a larger piece of land will become “common” in exchange for this small strip.

The Council is definitely not looking to change the character of the Westwood – a place I love and visit almost daily – they are just trying to make relatively minor changes improve the route and minimise the risk of accidents, which is something that I fully support”
