Welburn Takes Five Wickets As Beverley Beat Driffield

was pleased that Beverley Town Cricket Club third team got back to winning ways but stills feels his side need to improve.

Beverley smashed at the Norwood Recreation Ground beating them by 7 wickets to remain third in the table but the skipper still wants more from his side, he said;

“After two disappointing weeks it was important that we got back to winning ways.”

“But like so many times this year we got off to a great start but struggled to finish a team off with some sloppy fielding and inconsistent bowling.”

“Charlie Bough however continues to settle in as our opening bowler with two very tight spells.”

Welburn’s words may however be a little bit harsh as his team blasted through a youthful Driffield team in under 37 over’s with the skipper himself enjoying a five wicket haul.

In replay Beverley needed just 27 over’s to reach the required  target and claim all 30 points in the York & District Senior Cricket League.

Commenting on the batting performance Welburn was very positive about the youngsters and the older men in the team, he said;

“The star of the show was Tommy Hudson, stepping up the order and opening with veteran Graham Taylor he looked perfectly comfortable from ball one.”

“Hudson was very solid and showed his quality as he finished on 47 not out while Taylor got 50 the day before his birthday.”

Next weekend Welburn and his merry men will hit the road as they take on . When the sides last met back in May at Norwood Beverley cruised to a 103 run victory with skipper taking six wickets in the game.
