East Riding of Yorkshire Council and its contractor Galliford Try Ltd are continuing to make good progress on the maintenance scheme in , .

The works to phase 11 and phase 5, which incorporates the area to North Bar Within and alongside the Prezzo restaurant, are now completed.

Coupled with these completions is a section of work to phase 17, which forms part of the Market Cross area. There is still some ongoing work within phase 10, which was mentioned in the last letter drop, this work, which is to the rear of Lloyds Bank, is expected to be completed by Friday, 2 August.

Going forward, work has now started on phase 14, which takes in the junction at Old Waste and is expected to be completed by Friday, 16 August and will be extended into the area of the existing setts to aid traffic flow and release the remaining works to phase 17.

Work has also started on the installation of new street lighting columns in Saturday Market, which will enhance the area further.

Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Works are progressing as planned and we and Galliford Try are continuing to keep any disruption to a minimum for both businesses and customers alike.

“Throughout all phases of this important maintenance scheme, work to thresholds will be carried out outside of normal working hours to reduce potential adverse impacts.

“We very much appreciate and value the continued support and cooperation of residents and the local business community whilst the repairs are being carried out.”

The council will continue to keep residents updated on the works as they progress and Galliford Try’s site office can also respond to enquiries.
