Council Use Innovative Way To Provide New Bus Service Between Beverley & Winthernsea

’s Passenger Services Unit is responsible for providing accessible minibuses to transport people to and from adult services day centres.

One of those buses goes to Victoria Avenue Day Centre in .

Loathe to see this bus run back to depot empty, passenger services has registered the journey back to Beverley and the journey back out to Withernsea in the afternoon as service 243, thus providing a shopping link for rural Holderness villages.

For a minimal cost, residents can now travel to Beverley from Memorial Avenue, Withernsea, at 10.30am, and from Beverley Bus station to Withernsea at 1.25pm.

The two new additions to the service is an innovative step to maximise the use of a vehicle already in Withernsea and has already been used by around 100 passengers.

As well as serving Withernsea and Beverley, the service stops at Roos, Burton Pidesea, , Sproatley, Wyton, Bilton, Skirlaugh, White Cross and Routh.

Councillor , cabinet portfolio holder for environment, housing and planning, said: “The uncertain financial climate is putting pressures on both the public and private sector but this authority is committed to doing all it can to support our local transport infrastructure and services.

“By maximising the use of an existing service, the council is able to support not just day centre users but also residents from a number of local communities.”

A return ticket is priced at £6 and concessionary passes can also be used.
