Beverley Roundtable Get New Chairman

The members of were proud to display their newly re positioned plaque, which signifies the home meeting venue for the group , when they met for their annual AGM and handover at the , North Bar Without.

The group who meet every other Tuesday evening, we’re also celebrating as they held inductions for five new members following a surge of interest from gentlemen keen to be involved.

Breaking down of some of popular preconceptions surrounding the organisation has certainly helped to show people that we never have been a secret society, you don’t need to be invited, and as much as we also have the odd ‘black tie’ ball most events are casual and informal. There certainly aren’t any rituals which involve rolling up trouser legs nor any “funny” handshakes.

Outgoing chairman Adrian Hedges was keen to welcome Roy Harold as he took over the role for his year in office, Carl Gillyon was elected Vice chairman, Graham Binnington will be taking on the role of President from Alec Cammish and other roles and responsibilities were shared amongst Dave Garvey, Lawrence Green, & Paul Harrison with Brian Brookes as an honoury member. It was particularly nice to see some of the younger members being able to take advantage of the free membership offered to under 26 year olds, an incentive designed to encourage a more youthful influx and often taken up when looking for new challenges after leaving organisations such as the Young Farmers which have a leaving age of 25.

Beverley Round Table has played an active role in community life for over 60 years. Whilst meeting twice monthly, aim to give the members an opportunity to experience different and challenging activities, learn new skills, and socialise with a diverse group of individuals that come from all walks of life.

From comedy nights, to gliding, quad-bike racing to , Ghost walks to archery, all the activities are designed to be as inclusive as possible – and usually involve food & drink!

As well as supporting local charities, helping other groups, and running events such as charity casino nights, you get out, what you put in, and always welcome prospective new members.
