‘Vintage Tea Party’ With Wendy Wright

Wendy Wright of Butterfly Meadows, Beverley has transformed a hobby into a business. Wendy has combined a number of her skills to create a ‘Vintage Tea Party’.

Wendy explains the reasoning behind her ideas;

“I had the idea for ‘Wendy’s Vintage Tea Parties’ last year after my daughter’s wedding at a local hotel. I had made the favours, baked and iced the wedding cakes, arranged flowers for the tables and created the bridal bouquet and bridesmaids’ flowers.”

“In the past I had previously made successful wedding cakes for friends and family. After the wedding, I once again received enthusiastic praise from the chef, hotel staff and a request for floral arrangements from a bride to be who was looking around the hotel and had loved our flowers.”

“After this I began to imagine a business that could combine all of my creative skills. I wanted something that would be fun and sociable, involving my love of vintage china and silver, flowers and baking skills.”

“Then the idea came to me, a tea party with a difference. I loved the idea of inspiring people to recreate their own ‘Upstairs Downstairs’, ‘Downtown Abbey’, ‘Mad Men’ or even ‘The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’.”

“I thought hen parties, ladies groups and younger adults might really enjoy being able to enter the spirit of ’Times Gone By’ and be able to enjoy their own memorable tea party occasion.”

“Most women really enjoy something to laugh about and I had the idea of a wonderful leather vintage suitcase jammed full of dressing up items and props to inspire the banter and gossip that women love and thrive on.”

“The idea of delicious treats to eat, beautiful flowers, pretty linen, lovely vintage china and silver, and an intriguing polished leather suitcase to investigate seem to be the perfect combination for an irresistible girlie get together – either to celebrate a special occasion or just for fun.”
