Mill Lane United won an evenly contested Beverley derby on Sunday against the Eager Beaver.
United fielded a much more experienced then in their previous friendlies as the United management team used the game to test out different players.
Mill Lane United took the lead early on after neat passing sent the left winger through on goal and he made no mistake with the tidy finish.
The game then became a scrappy affair as both teams wasted possession and but for some inspired goalkeeping and poor finishing the Eager Beaver could have equalised.
Midway through the second half United’s very own ‘Neville brothers’ Paul Grantham and Steve Grantham combined from a free kick with older brother Paul taking the Honours with a sweet strike.
Particular praise must go to Zach Young in the middle of the park for his tireless effort and work rate.
United’s Chris Shields was also singled out for showing glimpses of class down the wing while Jimbob Waldren continued his good form marshalling the back line alongside Paul Grantham.
Man of the match however was Gav in the mill lane goal who pulled off some inspired saves to give the young mill lane side a thoroughly deserved win!
