The role of unpaid carers throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire is to be celebrated with a special service at Beverley Minster.
The Carers’ Service of Thanksgiving will take place at 11am on Monday, June 13 and carers past and present; the people they care for, along with friends, family and neighbours are invited to take part. Civic dignitaries will also attend.
This is the second year the East Riding of Yorkshire Carers Advisory Group have arranged a service, which this year coincides with the start of Carers Week.
Reverend Jeremy Fletcher will lead the readings, hymns and prayers and there will also be an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of a loved one.
Elaine Holtby, care co-ordinator at East Riding Carers Support Service, said: “At last year’s service there were over 100 people. It was such a fabulous and wonderful event – and at times very emotional – that is was agreed it should become an annual event.
“Unpaid and informal carers are vitally important and the essential role they play in people’s lives is not always recognised.
“This service gives everyone a chance to say thank you for the work they do.”
