The streets of Beverley were lined this morning as the Remembrance Day Parade led by the Beverley Church Lads and Girls Brigade made its way to the Memorial Gardens. wreaths were laid by representatives from many different organisations with Mayor of Beverley Peter Astell placing one from the town.

Armistice Day: Beverley’s Silent Tribute

The town centre of Beverley came to a standstill as The British Royal Legion, officials and members of the public observed a two-minute silence. Staff from the surrounding businesses joined shoppers on the streets as the town of Beverley paid their respect on Armistice Day. The ceremonies commemorate those who died in two world wars and later conflicts, including 385 UK personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001.
