Residents in the East Riding and Hull are being warned not to use the services of cold callers offering to take away scrap metal and waste.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has issued the warning following a court case in which a Hull man was prosecuted after rubbish he gave to two men was later found dumped in a drainage ditch in Benningholme, near Skirlaugh.

The Hornsea & District Hospital War Memorial Challenge Cup, more popularly known as the Tanton Cup, after P.C. Tanton Esq who donated the trophy, is one of the oldest football cup competitions in the East Riding, and this will be its 94th anniversary year.
It is competed for by local football clubs from North Holderness and still remains a popular competition among local players and spectators. Hornsea Town are the current cup holders.
Straight from the kick off the Braves were under pressure from the much bigger Skirlaugh Bulls outfit.
The Beverley Braves coming off the back of a disappointing performance defended well for the first couple of sets and took it to the Bulls with the ball in hand. Skirlaugh’s size advantage eventually paid off after a Braves error and they crossed for the opening score.
The blue and golds will take on North Hull Knights in their next group game in the Yorkshire Men’s League 40/20 cup. Both sides recorded opening day victories against Division One opposition.
Beverley defeated Skirlaugh Bulls 28-0 and the Knights dispatched Heworth 36-14. Scott Taylor and Pat Howdle are expected to keep faith with the majority of last weeks 17 of which they believe the best is yet to be seen.

A kick downfield by the visitors was fielded by Anson, who went on a run to the line beating countless defenders running from one corner of the pitch to another.
This was the final leg of a series of very tough pre-season friendlies which the Taylor,Howdle and O’Connor had organised, and on the surface of it they will take plenty of positives against NCL 1 opposition.
This was another entertaining warm up for the season with no shortage of passion but played in a generally good spirit.
With the 2017 season is now drawing closer for the blue and golds and the Yorkshire Mens League have revealed the structures of the competition.

The blue and golds will continue their pre-season this Saturday with a fixture at home to Eastmoor Dragons in the 2PM kick off at the Beverley Leisure Centre.
The Wakefield based outfit, who ply their trade in National Conference Division 3, are one of the oldest and longest established amateur rugby league clubs in the game and should provide the hosts with the ideal test. They are effectively just one division above Beverley.
Beverley ARLC’s Lee Stevens says he thinks the Blue and Golds have what it takes to not only challenge for the title but to win it.

Beverley Braves under 13s only had 14 players available as summer holidays and injuries took their toll on the side for their trip to the Skirlaugh Bulls.
After a cagey opening quarter when Myton Warriors gave as good as they got, the Beverley Braves got into their groove and eventually ran away with the game romping home 38 to nothing, the second clean sheet in a fortnight.
