BRIDLINGTON : All Ride Open Days To Place Over Easter

Two open days will take place in Bridlington during the Easter holidays to encourage people with a disability or mobility issue to come along and access specially-adapted bicycles.

All Ride is an adapted bike scheme for people over the age of five which has been set up along the North Promenade in Bridlington. The scheme offers people with disabilities or mobility issues, as well as their family and carers, the opportunity to take part in cycling. All Ride is the only adapted cycling scheme of its kind in the East Riding.

A new exhibition opens at Sewerby Hall and Gardens on Saturday, 24 March : ‘Musical Memories – The World of Herman Darewski’ will take visitors back to the Bridlington of the 1920s and 1930s.

Herman Darewski’s band delighted the crowds at Bridlington Spa in that era, keeping holidaymakers out until after midnight, much to the annoyance of the landladies in the town.

Bridlington’s popular Park and Ride service reopens for business on Saturday, 24 March, and runs until 4 November, 2018.

Park and Ride offers a frequent service, with buses running regularly from South Cliff Holiday Park to the harbour. Costing only £4.50 per vehicle (up to five passengers), Park and Ride represents excellent value for money, and buses run until 6.15pm each day.

A total of 45 new Isuzu Forward 7.5 tonne rigids have gone into service with national retailer Wren Kitchens, as the Humberside manufacturer changes its distribution programme covering deliveries from its regional outplaces to city centre customers.

The 45 Isuzus will be covering the distribution routes previously handled by the company’s 100 Renault Master vans.

Hull Looking To Become Creative Hub For Broadcaster Channel 4

Hull will be pitching for one of three creative hubs to be set up by Channel 4 following the announcement made by  by broadcaster that a pitch process will be launched in April.

The move, called 4 All The UK, will see a National HQ established outside of London, alongside two new smaller creative hubs in the nations and regions in 2019 – home to 300 Channel 4 jobs, including key creative decision-makers, with the intention to grow over time.

GRAFT’s ethos is to use art as a vehicle to improve confidence, grow self-esteem, and to incrementally transform individuals by engaging them in a pro-active intervention program. Elements and working practices from the Studio will be recreated to allow visitors to observe and take part in the environment, projects, techniques, and journey of HMP Humber’s students.

Roadworks Resume Over The Humber Bridge

Motorists are being urged to drive with care on the southbound lanes of the Humber Bridge from this weekend as essential engineering works re-start.

The scheme to replace the expansion joints at each side of the 1.4-mile long bridge will continue until May 2018 and involves the use of temporary safety ramps to enable traffic to use both lanes as much as possible.

A director of a second-hand car business who misled consumers over the cars they bought, including failing to tell buyers their vehicles had previously been written off, and has been sentenced at Hull Magistrates Court.

Todor Neychev, 37, of West Hull admitted three offences under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations and one under the Road Traffic Act between April and May 2017.

Over the next month, pupils at Frederick Holmes School (Freddie’s) will be working closely with some of the leading classical musicians in the country on a brand new piece of music written especially for them by Hollywood film composer, David Buckley. Freddie’s is an all age school for pupils with physical disabilities and learning difficulties.

Mr Buckley is best known for the soundtrack to the hit TV series The Good Wife. His film credits include Jason Bourne starring Matt Damon, The Nice Guys, and the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy The Brothers Grimsby.
