Members of Beverley Athletic Club are celebrating after achieving a record number of personal bests in a marathon in the inaugural Hull Marathon which took place last Sunday.
It was a soggy Sunday at Sewerby for the final race of the 2011 / 2012 season of the East Yorkshire XC League. Three teams of runners from Beverley Athletic Club travelled to Birchwood in Warrington last Saturday to take part in the Start Fitness Northern Athletics Autumn Road Relays. Darran Bilton of City of Leeds AC won last week’s Airkool Walkington 10k for the second year in succession. He completed the challenging course in 33 minutes, 22 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Phill Taylor of Bridlington RR. Temperatures soared to 30°C last Sunday as more than 1500 people took part in the Humber Bridge Half-marathon. Several Beverley athletes travelled to the Yorkshire Dales last Saturday to compete in the Wharfedale half-marathon and Rugger Ramble. The half-marathon is a category BL fell race with some challenging terrain which included a 1 in 3 hill.
