As well as Beverley controlled the ball in their season opener against Driffield, they failed to care for it this weekend as an Ionians dominated the first half en route to a comfortable 36-12 victory over the Beavers.
Ionians scored early to put Beverley on the back foot as the visitors failed to recover from a fumble receiving the kick off that gave the home side possession and territory which they duly converted two minutes later driving over from a free kick.
Beverley Braves U12s attended the Rhino’s Challenge festival help at Butlin’s Skegness this past weekend and finished an outstanding joint 7th out of the 34 teams competing in their age group.
With a squad of 17 travelling to the event the Braves had high hopes of repeating their successful campaign of 2017.
Straight from the kick off the Braves were under pressure from the much bigger Skirlaugh Bulls outfit.
The Beverley Braves coming off the back of a disappointing performance defended well for the first couple of sets and took it to the Bulls with the ball in hand. Skirlaugh’s size advantage eventually paid off after a Braves error and they crossed for the opening score.

The Beverley Braves U8s earned well deserved 4 – 4 drawwith Cottingham Tigers. The Beverley Braves lost to the Tigers 5-2 earlier in the season, so this was a good opportunity to see how the team had progressed.
On another wet Summer day, the Beverley Braves U8s started in typical fashion, Jacob Parkinson driving through the heart of the Wyke defence leaving Samuel Shrimpton space to run down the line to score the opening try.
The Beverley Braves U8s produced the performance of their season so far, to hold a strong Wyke team to a draw. The team had worked hard in training on their defensive game, and this helped Beverley take a 3-1 lead. In attack
