Beverley Seconds Win Title As Rain Impacts Final Day Of Cricket Season

Another trophy came Beverley Town Cricket Club’s way last Saturday when the 2nd XI won York Senior League Division One.

Although the weather prevented any play in two of the club’s Saturday games and the most vital, the 2nd XI fixture, was also abandoned before completion, news of cancellations and abandonments throughout the league meant the 2nds kept top place in Division one and will be promoted to the York Senior League Premier Division.

A dramatic weekend of cricket for Beverley Town Cricket Club brought three wins from three games on Saturday and a narrow loss for the 5th XI on Sunday.

The 1st XI secured promotion to the Yorkshire League North; the 2nd XI made significant strides in their own promotion ambitions and the 3rds continued to play a key role in the Holderness Division 2 title race with a narrow win over top of the table Patrington.

An unbeaten 81 from Robert Fish ensured  Beverley Town Cricket Club seconds claimed all 30 points at the Norwood Recreation Ground against Heworth.

Batting first after losing the toss Hewroth ended their innings on 185 for 7 with Matthew Saint, Pete Parnaby, James Emery and Joey Franklin all taking wickets for Beverley.
