The ‘Big Beverley Pancake Race’ is back again, after its revival last year. Some residents may remember it from several years ago when it was a regular calendar date, organised by the then, Beverley Arms Hotel.
Beverley Town Council in partnership with the Rotary Club of Beverley is running the event. The aim is to raise money for local charities.
When Beverley Town Council organised the first Food Festival in 2006, little did they know it would go on to be an annual success enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors alike.
The original idea was to bring a few producers from Beverley’s rural hinterland into the town centre to help celebrate local food, so on a crisp Sunday morning in 2006, thirty-five producers set up their stalls along with a small Food Theatre, in what proved to be a big success for the Town Council – one that has grown stronger year on year.
Beverley Town Council, Beverley in Bloom and town volunteers are busy planning for the summer planting and associated horticultural, environmental and community projects within the town which will contribute to the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign 2018.
This is the first time that our beautiful town of Beverley has been a finalist in the RHS Britain in Bloom campaign, which is managed by the Royal Horticultural Society and entry is by invitation only.
