MP Visits East Riding Theatre In Wake Of Government Funding Boost

MP for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart, has paid a visit to East Riding Theatre to meet its general manager Sue Kirkman following its £72,522 Government grant.

Theatres up and down the country have largely been forced to close their doors since March, which has meant East Riding Theatre has instead focused on maintaining an active online programme of events, with the help of locally-based freelancers.

Beverley Comes Face To Face With Its Tudor Past

St Mary’s Church in Beverley is presenting a pop-up exhibition telling the story of the town’s dramatic Tudor history.

A dozen life-size reproductions of paintings from the National Portrait Gallery’s prized Tudor collection will be accompanied by artefacts and images from the church itself. Pictures exhibited from the world’s largest collection of portraits will include King Henry VIII and several of his wives, by great artists such as Hans Holbein.

East Riding Theatre has been awarded £72,522 as part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future, the Culture Secretary has announced today.

East Riding Theatre is one of 1,385 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving urgently needed support.
