Road Sweepings to be Composted

Road sweepings from some of the East Riding’s streets and roads are now being sent for composting to keep it out of landfill. The sweepings, including leaf fall, soil and paper litter, are collected by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s street sweeping vehicles and gully waste vehicles. Old Curtains and Bras Win Fashion Awards

East Riding students this morning won awards for their fashion outfits made from discarded net curtains, bras, old shirts and duvets. They were competing in the pre-worn fashion awards sponsored by East Riding of Yorkshire Council to highlight the 3,000 tonnes of clothes sent by residents to landfill last year.
