The Council who have been keen supporters of the Beverley Folk Festival added they were able to put a stop to the money that was due to be granted to help fund the festival.
Beverley Folk Festival has been cancelled with people who have bought tickets in advanced facing prospect of not getting a refund on their purchases.
The event which has been going for 35 has ceased trading leaving those with advanced tickets out of pocket while the future of the event looks in doubt.

Between Christmas Eve, on Sunday 24 December 2017 and Tuesday 2 January 2018, staff at the Lifeline Control Centre, in Driffield dealt with a total of 9,241 incoming and outgoing calls.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s countryside access team has launched its Countryside Events 2018 programme that includes walks starting in Beverley.
From rambles and themed walks (including photography, navigation, bushcraft, geocaching and orienteering) to wildlife watching events; from Kids Go Wild events to workshops, conservation days and natural craft workshops – the programme includes something for everybody with an interest in the outdoors. The programme also links to the council’s Active Coast initiative this year.

The first ever Weekend of Christmas is taking place this weekend (Saturday and Sunday 2 and 3 December) at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
Most of the individual events included in the Weekend are free of charge – after payment of admission to Sewerby Hall and Gardens – although there is a small extra charge for the Photobooth and the donkey rides on both days.
