East Riding Libraries now offer ‘Reminiscence in the Community’, based on their hugely successful Reminiscence Sessions, tailored to specifically benefit residents in care homes and community settings who may be living with varying stages of dementia.
Anyone interested in learning more can come along to the launch event on Thursday, 24 May, from 2pm -4pm in the Treasure House, Beverley.
Dementia Friendly East Riding is a local charity based in the Beverley area and celebrates almost twelve months of supporting people with dementia, their carer`s and families.
It`s success has led to a point where there is a need to recruit additional trustees and volunteers to help carry through the intended programme for 2018.
With an estimated 5,500 people living with dementia in the East Riding today residents are being encouraged to find out more about the condition and become ‘Dementia Friends’.
To mark Dementia Awareness Week Alzheimer’s Society Hull and East Riding are running two free ‘Dementia Friends’ Information Sessions on Sunday 15 and 22 May and are looking for local people to come along.
