Number of Children Offered First Choice Secondary School Increases

The proportion of Year 6 children in the East Riding who have been awarded their first preference of secondary school for September 2022 has risen again this year to 97%.

Parents and carers across the East Riding, as well as nationally, will find out which secondary school their children will attend in the next academic year, which starts in September.

Chris and Simon Leahy admitted they were taking a gamble with plans to open Raph’s Lounge so soon after the launch in August last year of Cassiel Bar and Kitchen, which is across the road in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

A local housebuilder has donated £1,000 as part of its Community Fund initiative to the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit, a dedicated care facility at Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham. 

The chosen cause, Teenage Cancer Trust, is a world-class cancer service for young people in the UK, providing life-changing care and support so young people don’t have to face cancer alone, and has developed a specialist Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit based within the Queen’s Centre at Castle Hill Hospital, close to the housebuilder’s Poppy Fields development.
